Caleb worked really hard on his country report for 4th grade. He did the country Switzerland. We made his costume out of a black pair of mom's shorts, long white socks, black lace up boots, a black vest and a white linen shirt. We also ordered a hat from off the internet that looked very Alpinish. We made a cake and decorated it to look like a map of Switzerland. Everyone in the 4th grade did a report, learned songs and dances from other countries from the music teacher and then they put on a program. Each kid also displayed their report and any items that they had from their countries in the school hallway all afternoon on May 29. Parents and families and also the students from the school could walk around and see everything and ask questions to the kids about what they learned. Friday May 30 was the World Feast Day where each kid brought in something from their country to share with everyone else to eat. The gummy bears from Germany were a huge hit. We took cheese fondue with bread and crackers for Switzerland. There was so much food and some definite weird stuff that the kids would not touch. I kind of felt bad for the parents that went to all that hard work preparing ethnic dishes that the kid would not even try. A very busy week for the 4th grade and the reason why we could not stay in Utah for Calley's graduation.
