Pain in the .....Shoulder
My shoulder has been giving me quite a bit of trouble the last few months. I don't remember injuring it but it has not gotten any better and I finally went to the doctor a few weeks ago. I had to get an x-ray at the hospital first and then see the doctor. He had me do lots of movements with my arm to see what my range of motion was. Then he said I needed an MRI. I had to wait for that about a week and then wait another week to get the results. That MRI took 45 minutes. I didn't know it would take that long when I went in and I almost didn't make it because I had to be so still, was strapped down and had the machine 2 inches from my face. I had to sing hymns in my head LOUDLY and pray really hard to be able to stay still and not freak out. After about 10 songs I think I fell asleep and the next thing I knew, they were telling me I was all done. When I got back into the doctor he told me that there was no tear, or infection and no arthritis. He figured it was inflammation of the tendon or the bursa. So right then and there he gave me a cortisone shot. It was not as bad as I thought it was going to be and didn't take but a minute. He numbed me up with lidocane too so even before the cortisone started working my shoulder stopped hurting because it was numb. I can tell that my shoulder is somewhat better. I can put more weight on it than I have been able to and it isn't constant hurting like it has been. I still have some range of motion issues but he has written me an RX for some physical therapy. Not looking forward to that but I need to do it.
