Deep Thoughts

"Great things are brought about and burdens lightened through the efforts of many hands “anxiously engaged in a good cause.” Imagine what the millions of Latter-day Saints could accomplish in the world if we functioned like a beehive in our focused, concentrated commitment to the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ." M. Russell Ballard October 2012 General Conference

Birthday Boy

This boy had an ENTIRE Birthday week!  It started on Labor Day when we had some neighbors over for carne asada and we decided we better have cake and ice cream that night and sing to him since we would be out of town for his actual birthday.
In the background is Abby Morgan and Chase Neilson.
Here is our traditional candle set up.  We hardly ever the exact candle and we didn't again this time so we used a 3 and a 1 to equal 4.
This giant stuffed bear came from Caleb's friend Emily.
And to stick with tradition I didn't wrap his presents (to save the environment ;).  He got to open the big boxes.
This is a fun Disney game from the Pitts family.
This is his new Buzz Lightyear.
This is a fun game from the Oregon Gessel's.
He got new toy story jammies to go with his new Buzz Lightyear.   We let him open his gifts Wednesday night so that the boys could see.  The next morning-his actual birthday-we took him to breakfast at McDonald's and then we came home and packed and got ready to head to California to take the birthday boy to Disneyland.

We didn't leave until about 1:30 when we went to pick up Cayden from school.  They boys were going to miss Friday so we wanted them to go Thursday.  We got to our hotel about 7:30 and then after we checked in we went to Downtown Disney for dinner at the Rainforest Cafe.  We asked Kyle where he wanted to go and that's what he chose.  He wanted to go where the animals were and we did but we had to eat outside where there weren't any animals because it was so crowded.  If we wanted to eat inside it would have taken over an hour to get a seat.
After dinner we wandered around Downtown Disney and snapped this picture with the birthday mouse ears.  I really didn't want to spend $17 on the hat so we just took a picture of him.  He did get this Goofy toy that he wanted and we drug that thing all over Disneyland for the next 2 days-mostly in a backpack though.

He was so excited to see Goofy!

He made funny faces like Goofy.
This is him watching the new Paint the Night parade.  This was an amazing new light parade and he was thrilled to see Mac and Lightning McQueen.  We had awesome seats for this parade because we waited until for the 10:45 parade instead of the 8:30 parade where they people were lined up 6 deep on the sidewalks.

Kyle and Cayden got ride in the tiger cage on Casey Junior's train.

This first day at Disneyland it was very very hot.  We got there about 9:30 and Kyle only made it until about 1:30 when he was just a crying mess.  Part of it was he was hungry but he was also hot and exhausted.  We decided to go back to the room and take a nap and then come back for the evening when it was cooler and we were more rested.  He conked out in the hotel for over 21/2 hours and he was still pretty tired when we tried to wake him up but he wanted to go back to Disneyland.  We made it back over to the park about 7 and stayed until 11:30.  We didn't get back to the room until almost midnight.  Even with a that 2.5 hour nap he still went to sleep pretty easily.  The next morning we slept a little longer and made it over to the parks by about 10:30.  We went to California Adventure and went right to get fast passes for the Cars land ride.  He was too short last time to ride this ride but time he was tall enough-I checked his height before we even decided to go to Disneyland to make sure he could ride this one especially. He loved it and wanted to go again but there were no more fast passes and the line was 50 minutes long.

He got to see Mickey and go to Disney Junior Live On Stage.  He loved the bubbles and dancing.

After a whirlwind 2 days at Disneyland we came home.  The next Monday at preschool they celebrated his birthday.  He got a crown and all the kids made him cards.  He got presents from the "Amazon" truck all week and visits from Grandma and Grandpa and Aunt Dena.  What a fun week for our fun boy!
