We are in the joys of fit throwing with him. Good old fashioned. arching of the back, screaming his head off, fit throwing. He even occasionally throws himself on the floor if he is already down there. At least he hasn't started kicking his feet at the same time but I'm sure it is coming! Like all babies the fits occur when he doesn't get his way. Sometimes it is when he is not wanting to be held and wants to be put down. Other times when he doesn't get his way he stands there and literally screams at the tops of his lungs. Sometimes we laugh. Sometimes we don't.
He is in the stage of loving to run away from us so that we chase him. If he has something we need to take from him and he sees us coming he takes off at top speed and runs away. If you don't hold on to him when he's going into the bath or coming out of the bath he will run away. That is pretty funny though to see a stark naked baby running down the hall! He ran away from me at church the other day. Right at the time a bunch of people were trying to get set apart for new callings. Not funny! I was in heels. Caleb had to cut him off and grab him. He also darts down the driveway right for the road and freaks me out. The other day at the post office I took him in with me because I didn't have anyone with me to stay in the car with him. I didn't realize that I was going to have 4 packages that day so it was a challenge to get out of there. I had to set the boxes down though because I knew he was going to run for the road as soon as we got outside and he did of course and again freaked me out.
He loves to clean up.
He is taking to hanging/ dangling from the treadmill and trying to lift himself up onto the counters by hanging on them and trying to pull himself up.
He really loves to sit at the barstools and wants to when we eat. Not a good idea unless you want food from here to kingdom come! We need to get a barstool with a back though because he doesn't yet know that he can fall off of those. He has also started climbing up on them so he can sit there.
He loves hor-hees. When we go on drives we all look for them and point them out to him. He went to Aunt Dena's the other day and saw her baby goats and newly hatched ducks.
He says no when he doesn't want something and he nods his head yes or says' oh, yeah" when he does want something. He really knows what he wants and he lets us know.
He tells us with words that he is "done" while signing, he says please, hurry, points at things and says "that" or points where he wants to go and says "there" and also points to what or where he wants. If we don't understand him or if we are just not doing it fast enough he will grab our hand and try to drag us to where or what he wants.
He knows what berries are and calls them boo-ry boo-ry (berry). If we tell him grape he will say bape.
Nursery is still a no-go. Well he goes but cries most of the time. He does get distracted with toys or snacks or clean up time but then he goes back to crying. Maybe soon!
He is taking to throwing his plate or whatever food is left on his tray when he is done.
He says "cheese" when I am trying to take a picture.
He gets the scripture books out for family scripture study and he kneels for family prayer. he says "men" when we are done.
He loves pizza! He sees a pizza commercial-even from upside down when I am changing him-and he says "peepa".
I had him not taking an afternoon bottle around 4 or 4:30 but that is his most crabby time of day. It is the busiest time of day for me with trying to cajole and beg and plead with my children to do their homework, clean their rooms, practice the piano and plus I'm trying to make dinner. So this week I went back to giving him that bottle at 4:30 so I could have a few minutes to get dinner ready and not have him clawing at my legs or trying to push down the kitchen barricade. I don't quite know when to take him off the bottle. I give him cups of water or milk or juice during the day but if I take him off completely then I am afraid he won't be getting enough liquids.
The binky is still his really good friend. I am hoping that when he gets over this super clingy phase he has been in for 3 months that we can take that away sometime soon after.
Most nights he is in bed by 9:00 and he gets up between 7-8. If he gets up any earlier than that he is really tired in the late morning, needs an early nap, wakes up too early in the afternoon and is super tired and crabby by 6 or 7. That is way too early to put him to bed because then he would get up early again and the vicious circle would start all over.
He still won't sleep with covers so he wears long sleeved and long pants jammies.
I still sleep in the room with him. No, my husband is not pleased with that arrangement. I did try to get him to sleep and then go to my bed later a few nights but my anxiety was so bad that I slept like crap. I really don't like him being on that far side of the house and his window is on the front of the house and the bed is pushed up against the wall with the window and I worry about the blind being there and and and and and. I don't know when that is going to change but my husband hopes sooner rather than later.
He prefers to push the stroller rather than ride in it.
He loves to run and run and run. He ran all over the fairgrounds at the fair, at the May Day dance and any other time we let him down.
He doesn't really like chicken nuggets that much. While I applaud his desire to eat something not quite so nasty it is challenging to feed him in the car because he takes apart burgers and grilled cheese. Nuggets are so much easier to hand him and much less messy. He really enjoys fries though.
He likes to watch Bubble Guppies, Curious George and Rabbit something on Nick. I guess it's because that is what I turn on for him. He also like "me mow", Mickey Mouse and likes Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and "poo be", Pooh bear. He has stopped calling pooh bear poopy so that is nice.
He likes to play with cars on his road rug.
He says "ko kay" when he tell him something or ask him to get something. We say "Kyle it's time for bed" and he says "ko kay".
He likes to get on beds and pull the pillows onto his lap.
He still does his little wave back and forth like windshield wipers not the open and closed hand wave. It really is quite cute.
He found the pen today and decided to draw on his legs. That is a new trick! I haven't found too many pictures on the walls yet but I try to watch him really closely when he has crayons.
He's reaching up to try and open the doors now. It won't be too long before he can open them and then we will need to get those things on them so he can't open them.
He really likes to shut doors too. He knows that the bathroom doors are supposed to be closed and so if we come out of one he will want to close it behind us. He closes cabinets and the dishwasher and the washing machine when he sees they are opened.
He loves to wash his hands and will raise them up and say "wa?". How can you deny a sweet request like that and we certainly don't want to discourage cleanliness!
