Deep Thoughts

"Great things are brought about and burdens lightened through the efforts of many hands “anxiously engaged in a good cause.” Imagine what the millions of Latter-day Saints could accomplish in the world if we functioned like a beehive in our focused, concentrated commitment to the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ." M. Russell Ballard October 2012 General Conference

May Day Bribery

Ever since the end of the May Day Dance last year when Cayden was in 3rd grade he has informed me that he was not going to dance the 4th grade dance.  Boy, was that kid serious!  He  told me over and over again as they were learning the dance and practicing at school that he was just not going to do it.  I was quite disappointed because if there is one May Day dance I like it is the 4th grade disco!  I don't know why he wouldn't do it and he would not tell me.  I kept asking him and trying to get him to do it in an oh so casual and reverse psychological kind of way all to no avail.  So the night before the performance I tried the next best thing-bribery.  I tried to bribe him with Golden Corral and a cupcake from the Sweet Tooth Fairy but he still said no!.  Finally I sweetened the deal with one of the things that he loves more than life-a big box of Legos that he has wanted for a while.  I told him that Cody would buy it for him at Walmart and have it there for him when we got back from the performance.  He finally agreed and those Legos only cost $80!  We scrounged around the house and found him this lovely costume-dad's Pink Floyd t-shirt, Cody's suede vest, mom's boots and Caleb's sunglasses!  Stayin' alive, stayin' alive!
