Deep Thoughts

"Great things are brought about and burdens lightened through the efforts of many hands “anxiously engaged in a good cause.” Imagine what the millions of Latter-day Saints could accomplish in the world if we functioned like a beehive in our focused, concentrated commitment to the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ." M. Russell Ballard October 2012 General Conference

Zion Ponderosa Ranch

The first weekend in May Connor and Caleb went to a camp up above Zion.  It was a diabetes camp done by the Washington County Diabetic Youth Association.  Caleb got to go because they allow a friend/sibling to come with each camper that has diabetes.  It was a long drive to get there and since we had never been to Zion before we took extra time.   Cayden drove with us and was very sad that he could not stay and play with the boys.  The boys got to stay in cabins that were very much like hotel rooms.  There was even a TV.  There was lots of food at the buffet restaurant and lots of activities.  Connor went on the zip line numerous times and rode horses.  They got to play basketball and pool.  It was a really cold weekend and we did not pack super well for it being that cold.  The kids ended up buying gloves in the gift shop and wearing their jackets the whole time.  They are completely crazy though and went swimming at the really awesome pool at the resort.  Their counselor who actually was a parent of a child who has diabetes and was up there declined to get in the pool with them.  Go figure.  The cabins were heated and there was a barn that they could play pool, ping pong, and foosball while it was so cold outside.  It snowed on them Saturday night and when I went to pick them up it was FREEZING!   Don had to go to Atlanta early Sunday and I had to leave at 5am Sunday morning to pick them up.  They had a good time and want to go  back next year.  I was really happy that the camp counselors were ADULTS.  The camp up in Ogden that Connor went to over the summer was staffed by a few scary guys who smoked and had tattoos.  I felt much better leaving my children's care and well being to a nice mormon dad who had 2 kids with diabetes.
