Deep Thoughts

"Great things are brought about and burdens lightened through the efforts of many hands “anxiously engaged in a good cause.” Imagine what the millions of Latter-day Saints could accomplish in the world if we functioned like a beehive in our focused, concentrated commitment to the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ." M. Russell Ballard October 2012 General Conference

A Quad-fecta-or How Much Straw It Took To Break the Camel's Back

The month of May was not a happy month as far as things not breaking around here.

The big screen TV now looks like we should be wearing 3D glasses.  Something went out with the color tubes and there are now 3 distinct pictures in red. blue, and green.  Not sure how to fix that.
New TV-$1000

Then Don was making mashed potatoes on Mother's Day for me and the entire cooktop cracked. The crack runs the whole width of the cooktop and across the big front burner and the back smaller burner that actually runs into the one in front of it to make a very long burner.  I have not been using it because I read lots of not good things about using a cracked cooktop but I finally broke down last night when I had to make dinner.  I made lasagne for Don's birthday and it took double the time because I only had 1 burner to use.  I watched the cooktop very carefully as I was using it last night.  I think it made the crack a little bit wider so I am now comtemplating whether or not to keep using it.  New cooktop-$500

On the way home from St. George not a week after the cooktop incident while driving through the gorge a rock hit the windshield and hit it just perfectly enough that it sent a crack running right across my line of sight.  That had to be fixed because I could hardly see through the windshield.  New windshield-$167 PAID

The final straw
Don was in Denver-of course and I had to take the kids to karate.  When I picked them up I did not look behind good enough and my back up sensors did not sense that there was a truck behind me.  Yep.  I hit it.  There was a huge basketball size dent in my back quarter panel of my suburban and it broke the grill on the other guy's truck.  He was very sweet about it and told me not to worry about it but it still needs to be fixed so who know how much that will cost.  Don popped the dent out of the suburban so it just has some scrapes and paint transfer on it.  That won't be getting fixed anytime soon.  UUUGGGG!!!!!  This happened to be the day that I spent trying to figure out how to get us out of debt and I seriously was thinking and adding and subtracting in my head all day.  This was of course after I found at that the testing that Connor and Cayden need to have done is not covered by my insurance and if I want it done then I need to have $1500 in cash for each kid.  Yeah right.  The next option is to have a consult for $200 a piece to decide if the $1500 testing is necessary.  Ok so we will go that route unless I can find a doctor on my insurance which so far is not happening.
We did not fix the TV or cooktop or Suburban yet until that money tree pops up in our yard.  Or I may take up the lottery-I could drive to the California line once in a while right?

I hate to even think what's next.

Okay...let me try this again...I feel for you! We've had two weddings in three months (cost= you don't want to know)...a broken windshield that is still cracked...and just found out today that our garage door will be $675 to fix...of course it wasn't only new springs...but the entire motor too! So once again you've made me feel a little better...but I do feel sorry for you guys.
