No Go Car Go

Cody had a little incident with the car the week before we left for Provo with him which consequently left us with a car we could not drive until we got it fixed. He got stuck in the sand on the way to the reservoir and tried to pull the car out by the little hook in the trunk that keeps the trunk closed.  After 2 hours of trying to get it out with his friend Justin he had Justin bring him home and he told me what happened.  Don was out of town of course so we called Grandpa and Justin called his dad who is a highway patrol  Between the 4 of them they got the car out.  The trunk was damage so much that it would not close.  The car sat in the driveway for 6 weeks until we found a local guy to fix. He fixed it really cheaply considering the damage.  It cost us $1500 with him rebuilding the hook himself instead of buying a whole new back end.  You could not just buy the little hook you had to buy the whole piece and it would have cost $3200.  As a bonus the guy hooked us up with a buyer-who just happened to be the guy we bought it from and so we sold it the day it was fixed.  I am sad to see that car go but I can't fit in it myself and it will not be very easy to use when the baby comes. 

Helping Hands

On Sunday morning August 7 we got a phone call from a guy in our ward who was out of town.  He called to ask Don to go and help a friend of his who was stuck out on the freeway with a broken down car.  Don called his friend Rik who knows a whole lot more about cars to borrow a tow chain.  They decided just to take his tow trailer just in case.  Caleb wanted to go and was a big help crawling under the car and helping get it chained down.  When they got to where the guy was they loaded his car and drove to Vegas to a repair shop.  Don and Caleb ended up missing church but Cayden and I went.  When the guy from our ward called the next day he said that he was trying to think of someone who would go and help his friend and would follow through and Don's name came to his mind.  I am glad that Don is thought of so highly. 

Clean Floors

I really wanted the carpets cleaned before the baby came and my sweet husband, Connor and Grandpa took care of it on Thursday August 18.  I was banished to my bed so that I would not slip on the wet floors but they were dry by morning.

Stake Conference

Sunday, August 14 was our Stake Conference.  Caleb got to go and do baptisms for the dead on Saturday with the youth in our ward as a way to help the youth get ready for Stake Conference.  They had Stake Temple Week that whole week prior to but we did not want to leave Cayden home not knowing the full impact of the diabetes on him since he had just been in the hospital on Monday.  They always have an adult session on Saturday night.  I wanted to go but decided that I should probably choose the Sunday session when we could go as a family since I would have a hard time sitting through both.  It was hot and uncomfortable during the Sunday session but I made it.  We had Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the 12 as one of the speakers.  I usually write down what the speakers say but was trying really hard to just make it through the meeting let alone write anything down.  I do remember he said at the very end of his talk that the atonement covers all unfairness.  That was something I needed to hear because of Cayden's diabetes diagnoses just the week before and all our stress and struggle with Connor and even the fact that someone who shall not be named was put into a prominent leadership position in our stake and I only found out right then in stake conference when they did all the sustainings.  I am glad that I went to Stake Conference and got to hear from our leaders and feel the spirit.

Priesthood Power

I forgot to post about this when we were in Utah but I thought it was important.  I can't remember which day it was exactly but it was the last week of June, maybe the 28 or 29, while we were in Provo.  Larry's daughter and her family are living with my parents right now and Quentin, the husband was at work that day and fell and sprained his ankle really bad.  Later that night after they got back from the doctor, their family's home teacher came over.  He asked Quentin if he wanted a blessing and he said yes so Cody got to anoint while the other guy gave the blessing.  That was the first time Cody was able to use his newly acquired Melchezidek priesthood.  It was quite exciting for him and for us.

Another Month Has Gone By

And I always do this. I keep thinking I will blog whenever something happens or even just the random day to day stuff but I just don't.  I end up getting way behind and blog a bunch of posts all at once. 

We have been doing a whole lot of nothing.  I have been having contractions since about 22 weeks but started on meds to help at about 26.  The summer in Logandale is super hot, long and boring.   I have limited energy and even less desire to go out in the heat.  I spend most of my time in my room with the shades drawn and multiple fans blowing on me with air down as low as I can possibly get without bankrupting us with the power bill.  The posts I have I will probably back date just to keep things chronological.  That is, when I get to them.
