Deep Thoughts

"Great things are brought about and burdens lightened through the efforts of many hands “anxiously engaged in a good cause.” Imagine what the millions of Latter-day Saints could accomplish in the world if we functioned like a beehive in our focused, concentrated commitment to the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ." M. Russell Ballard October 2012 General Conference

A Pox Upon You Sewing Machine

Or in otherwords entitled Disaster of the Day or I Suck at Sewing! I found a way cute "32 Minute Messenger Bag" tutorial on some blog and after 2 and 1/2 hours I decided that I was not meant to sew. I told Cayden I would make him a "manbag" since he so intent on using my extra purses and bags. I just can't read a tutorial even though it had pictures and really simple instructions. Sherri McConnell I am not ! About 2 hours into the fiasco I went out to the front room and Cayden asked if his bag was done. I told him that mommy just could not do it and that I was sorry. He was so sweet. He just said "It's ok mommy." Well that is when I pulled myself up by my bootstraps-ok flipflops because it is 115 outside and I just added a strap to the first pocket I had. It was more of a crap bag than a man bag but he was thrilled anyway even though I TOTALLY SUCK!! I really have all these grand ideas-I would really like to make a quilt for our bed but if I can't master a simple bag then I probably would end up stabbing myself to death with the seamripper trying to make an actual quilt. My office is a disaster with fabric everywhere and the ironing board and everything else but Cayden was quite pleased with his new bag and now I will go have a piece of chocolate cake and may just even put ice cream on it just to make myself feel better.

Oh I just thought of another lovely title for this post
I am SEW incredibly inept!

Don't give up!!! I used to totally have bag-phobia! You should have called me...I would have come over! I know you can make bags and quilts...you just need the right project to start out with...and some tutorials are definitely better than others! Cayden looks happy, so that's all that matters with this experience...although now I'm craving chocolate cake!
