I can't think of anything really profound to write about but since we took the kids to Madagascar 2 last night for FHE -it was hilarious by the way!-today's post will be about memories about certain movies or associated with movies.
My dad had tons of button up long sleeve shirts that he wore for work. I got the joyous privilege to iron them for 50 cents each. There were piles and piles of them. I don't think that I have ever seen someone with so many shirts. I remember that I spent one whole afternoon watching Gone With the Wind and ironing my dads shirts. Do you know how long Gone With The Wind is? That is why I do not iron unless I am being tortured. We go to the dry cleaners!
Another movie memory that I have is that on Sunday nights when we lived in Lindon the "Wonderful World of Disney" would be on TV. This is where they would play a Disney movie and we would watch it as a family. I remember watching Sound of Music although I don't think that was Disney. I think that we snapped beans and shelled peas while watching that.
During the summer the Scera theatre would have morning showings of older kids movies. I think that we could get a pass that was good for 10 movies that cost $10 and they showed the movies a few times a week or once a week or something like that. Then for another dollar you could get a little drink, a little popcorn and a small candy-like a package of Bottle Caps or Lemonheads or something. We did that a few times.
I may have posted this before butme and Erin, my friend from high school went to see Last of the Mohicans when it first came out. We loved the soundtrack so much that after the show we drove around to every K-Mart, and Shopko in the area to try and find it. We did not find it. That soundtrack is still one of my favorites.
Ok last one-I remember watching Sommersby with Cydnee. I hated it! I still hate it! You just can't end movies like that but my mother and Cydnee tried to reason with me that the way it ended was the only way it could end but I argued and will continue to argue till my last breath that it was totally wrong! He did not have to die! Yes, that was the honorable thing and he did it to save her reputation blah blah blah but whatever!
So as the end to post I will tell you what my favorite movies are.
1. Notting Hill
2. Mamma Mia
3. Nanny McPhee
4. Princess Bride
5. Sabrina
Ok one more thing-since there is nothing to watch on TV the last few nights I have been intirgued with Turner Movie Classics. I have watched 3 old old black and white films. Two with Dorothy MaGuire-for my siblings or any of you who question who she is, she is the mom from the old Swiss Family Robinson and the mom in Old Yeller. The movies were Invitation, and The Enchanted Cottage. I enjoyed them really and now with my Netflix subscription I am ordering old movies to watch while Don is gone. I watched Captain Kidd last night-could not tell you who the actors were but Cody came in and said that the man that played Captain Kidd was in Strangers on a Train that he had to watch for English. Go figure!

3 Happy Thoughts:
I hate ironing just as bad as you do and absolutely refuse to do it. I have some ugly memories of ironing as well.
I remember the Sunday night "wonderful world of disney" shows. They were the best.
I was nice getting to see you today. Guess no more blog stalking..LOL :)
Not strangers on a train, mom, it was "Witness for the Prosecution"... great movie, by the way!
